Meatza Pizza

Tonight for dinner I made one of Nick's favorite old time dinners. Its quick and easy and can be made in one dish. I am copying this recipe directly out of my mother's-in-law cookbook, so I should give her credit.

  • 1 pound ground beef, very lean
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1/2 cup fine dry bread crumbs
  • 2/3 cup evaporated milk
  • 1/3 cup ketchup
  • 1 small can sliced mushrooms, drained
  • 3/4 cup grated cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon oregano
  • 2 teaspoons Parmesan cheese

Mix beef, garlic salt, and bread crumbs, then spread in a 9x9 pan. Add evaporated milk and mix with a fork. Spread mixture over bottom of pan raising a rim 1/2-inch high around the edge. Spread ketchup over meat to the rim. Arrange mushrooms on ketchup. Place cheese over top and sprinkle with oregano. Sprinkle generously with Parmesan. Bake in a 400 degree oven for twenty-five minutes or until cheese is melted and lightly browned.
